Ch4. Blind Date in New York
"You sound like an old soul. Maybe we should meet?" She asked suddenly.
"Where?"
"Some place in the middle. Let's see, Givatayim?"
"Did you forget? I'm stuck in boiling Arizona."
"Man! What, are you going to be there forever?"
"No, but it will take me another two months to get back to Israel."
"Oof. Why is everything always so complicated."
"Every problem has a solution," I reassured her authoritatively. "I can arrange another middle, somewhere halfway, if you’re interested." I felt the spirit of life creep into my voice.
"Well, let's hear what the man of half has to offer, and I hope it’s half full."
I paused for a second and announced, "New York! It’s halfway, in the middle, and a great place for a cool blind date like in ‘When Harry Met Sally.'"
"You're crazy! I have a fear of heights, so I don’t fly."
"Every problem has a solution. I said that already, didn’t I? OK, if you want me to come on Christmas Eve, I can stay for about ten days."
"Of intoxication," she teased, laughing.
"We've already passed the phone test; what could be so bad?"
"And if we don’t like each other?"
"So we'll go to the zoo, I'm crazy about elephants."
"And if I fall in love with you?"
"The bed will be waiting for us within cigarette range."
"Oof! You're driving me crazy. I want to know everything about you! But everything!"
"I wish I knew myself," I replied to her in all seriousness.
